Can My Car Tow It?

Compare five weight limits with your entered figures. A planning guide, not approval to tow.

Step 1 — Your car
Step 2 — Your caravan
Step 3 — Your load

People, gear + accessories. Exclude towball load.

Loaded ball weight, not an unladen brochure figure.

ATM is a permitted limit, not a measurement.

Include towball load. Do not enter coupled axle mass (GTM).

Help with loading figures

Include people, gear and accessories not already in the published kerb mass. Enter 0 only if confirmed. A planning value is an assumption, not a measurement. Use a correct weighbridge measurement of total loaded caravan mass and measure the loaded ball weight separately.

Enter your figures, then compare all five limits.

How the five planning checks work

Towing capacity: total loaded caravan mass against the car's braked rating. Towball: entered ball load against the car's ball rating. GVM: car kerb mass + additional car load + ball load. GCM: car kerb mass + additional car load + total loaded caravan mass; ball load is already included in that total. Caravan ATM: loaded caravan mass against the caravan's permitted maximum.

At 90% or more of an entered limit, a check is marked Close. This is a planning flag, not a statutory safety margin. At the limit, there is no remaining margin. Missing values are marked Incomplete, never assumed zero.

Not checked: axle and tyre loads, caravan GTM, towbar and coupling limits, loading balance, modifications, braking requirements and manufacturer-specific conditions. Confirm all applicable limits separately; passing these comparisons does not establish safe or lawful towing.
